Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

i'm angry about all the no substance popular kids who could just as easily go fit in somewhere else ruining the scene. running around chanting "anarchy" and "non-conformist" can't you see how blind you are!???!?! its just a trend, to make you predictable so the very people you want to rebel against can make money!!!!! its just like the hair metal trend!!!! if you don't agree, throw away your "punk" records (My chemical romance, Good Charlotte) and go do something else popular and stop labeling everybody emo. others of you, listen to bands that don't have shirts in hot topic, that have intelligent, political/positive lyrics, CAN actually play their guitars and CAN'T whine like little girls about how their hearts are broken. so ******* boring. true anarchists don't buy into hot topic and fall out boy. they support indie labels and the local scene. and they don't take popular kid bullshit like you guys. so nazi punks, **** off!!!! (by the way, my question is, do you agree!?!?)

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

I get what you're saying. And I agree. kids that want to be into punk need to be listening to Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Crass, etc. Not enough kids are supporting the indie and DIY punk scenes.

...this is something that can get pretty worisome, when so many indie zines are going out of business. and their aren't enough quality punk/indie/hardcore bands to support the scene/ I only know one DIY punk that's successful (he writes memoirs and frequently rants about how kids don't give back to the scene and treat it as a commodity) but he also doesn't pay his heating bill.

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

ha. well, I still listen to Fall Out Boy. oh, and don't be pissed at your generation, this has been an issue for punks since the 70s...the mainstream is probably always going to be the majority, otherwise it wouldn't be mainstream. Report It

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

you're right...all the "punk bands" and everything else is so freaking mainstream. i mean all these kids today claim "i'm punk" but what do they listen to...mainstream music...i mean all the kids worry about is how many other kids like a band, cause if enough people like it, then of course their going to like. there are so many local bands that are great but kids say that they don't like them because their not mainstream..don't kids know that almost all the bands that are mainstream and famous today started out as local bands playing in the closes coffee shop or club....

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

I afraid I must agree with you. I'm not into punk. I'm into metal but you get the same junk with that genre as well. When I was in school the kids would listen bands like Limp Bizkit and act like they were so hard core. I didn't get mad about it 'cause if it made them feel better then hey, whatever fuels you. I would just ignore them. But, it is annoying.

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

this is such a great question, and yes i agree! everyone knows of bands like that, who follow the trend of nonconformity just to sell music. and of course you would think to bring my chemical romance up, they are always a debated band. i think you are allowed to like whatever music you want, just don't like it because it's what everybody listens to. lol, that's true, most music is starting to become like that now. is that what we're slowly evolving into? conforming to nonconform?

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

well punk rock and metal is trash music anyyway so theres really no diffrerence in them

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

I agree with you 100% so tired of seeing all this punk bullshit and emo trend at school and they consider all these bands like mcr the best in the world when clearly they are not and one of the worst! Even many musicians agree these mainstream bands suck! I'm 15 to and I hate all these bands that most ignorant teens buy into it just makes them depressed!

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

SOMEONE FINALLY UNDERSTOOD THAT!!!!!

god, i was wondering if anyone else would catch onto that

the 'punk' is actually pop-punk, which is like todays hair-metal

its not the real thing but mtv tells everyone it is. if mtv would show just all music of all kinds (ie metallica (*not punk, i know, just saying), sex pistols, ect), there wouldnt be this problem. your not 'rebelling' if your doing the exact same thing as everyone else

ive had preps who think their punk argue with me that the ramones and the clash arent punk- thats whats so wrong about this big box music thing

i agree with you all the way

DEAD KENNEDYS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

Woah woah man... I can agree on everything there... Go metal all the way... I hate the complaining stuff and the sad stuff and the stuff with sucky guitars... I give you a star on this one :)

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

Adopting A "Punk" Attitude In The 21st Century Is Completely Redundant. I'm A Huge Punk Fan But The Truth Is, Punk Is Dead. It Died In The 1980's. Punk Was A Raw, Simplistic Form Of Music With Stripped Down Instrumentation, Which Emerged From The Boredom Of A Generation, Frustrated With Society. This Inspired A Culture, A Social Movement Which Encouraged Teenagers To Rebel Against Society And Reject Mainstream Music. Punks Encouraged Anarchy And Nonconformity Because Their Ideologies Were Concerned With Personal Freedom, Because They Were Discontent With A Society In Which Unemployment, Police Harassment and Poverty Were Part Of Every Day Life. Punk Was A Way Of Live In the Late 70's And Early 80's Because It Was Revolutionary. It Was About Raw Music, Rebelling Aginst The Repression Imposed By Society And Just Not Giving A ****. But Like Everything Else, Music, Society And Majority Attitudes Have Changed. Punk, Atleast The Real Kind, Is Dead And The No Substance Popular Kids Should Show It The Respect It Deserves By Not Trying To Make It A Commercial Trend.

Don't mainstream punk rock!!!!?

you have a point. Music today is dead, we have so many teens today are trying to buy into this "whole punk trend" that the media is marketing. What one has to do is rebel from the media itself and the "punk image" because in today we even have rappers wearing the misfit logo, its all pretty sad and I weep for my generation
