years of coloring at home (every crazy color you can imagine) have taken their toll on my hair. i can't do the punk thing and have a decent job so i want to do something natural looking but i'm having a hard time. it was blonde but kept getting greenish so i went with a dark brown but there's always spots i've missed and the roots look crappy now. i'm afraid to mess with it but i can't afford to go to a salon.
I have fried my hair! how can i get it too take a color evenly and keep it?
See a professional they can provide you with treatments to get the protein back on track in your hair! Your porosity is out of wack and that is why everything takes unevenly! Usually when you go from a blonde to a brown you need to fill the hair to avoid a greenish cast! I would recommend using an acid semi-permanent it will help fill in the gaps, is less damaging, etc (Goldwell Colorance is my personal favorite)! You need to tell the salon what color lines you have been using... This is extremely important!!! Most over the counter color lines are a metallic compound while professional color lines are an alkaline compound (permanent)! If you have a previous metallic color present in your hair it will have a chemical reaction with perms, permanent color, color remover, bleach, etc! Extreme percautions need to be taken in an event such as this! Make a list of the color lines you have used over time so they are aware of the underlying pigments and risks involved! Since your hair is fried ask your stylist for a deep conditioning treatment and purchase some professional products (well worth the money). I would recommend the Nexxus line! Use the Keraphix conditioner to help restore elasticity and keratin, Therapee Shampoo to restore moisture for dry brittle hair, and the Emergencee Serum for extremely damaged hair! Start a hair regime as soon as possible (see if your salon carries Nexxus, if not ask for something comprable to your needs)! Definately stay away from permanent color for a long time! Your going to have to go to a salon for a corrective color to get the results you desire!!!

you really need to go to a salon and have them fix it. if you don't want to do that, pretty much the only thing you can do now is just live with it and let it grow out.

you need to go get your hair stripped of color professionally if you have color treated your hair at home
